Check out the details here: forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=37030"

We are on for another gathering of North West riders at the Harmony Trails near Longview, WA. Many more miles of trails have been added and we are announcing the completion of the Golden Spike Trail for those hardy and adventurous enough to attempt it.

Please meet me at the usual place off I-5 Exit 36 (Gearhart Park) by 10am on Saturday, February 23, 2008. We will leave to caravan to the trail head at 10am sharp so don't be late. Refreshments will be provided around mid ride at 9 trails where you can watch your friends attempt 285, the teeter totter, and the BIG UP. Or, if you really think you can ride, YOU can attempt it.

Sounds like a blast!

Belgium Holiday Cross Spirit in Seattle
The first annual KRINGLE KROSS CYCLOCROSS RACE presented by SRAM will take place in Seattle, WA. on December 30th at Seattle's Magnuson Park. Just a few miles from downtown, the park will be an easy ride from home for Seattle racers and a quick drive for cross racers from around the Pacific Northwest. There will be prizes, cash, custom engaraved MOEN Cowbell Trophies (just like CrossVegas!) and plenty of waffles! Falling on the heels of the Seattle Cyclocross Series and U.S. Cyclocross Nationals, Kringle Kross will be a great last chance to snag some cool primes, race for bragging rights and have some fun before winter sets in. Go to KRINGLEKROSS.COM for all the details.

IMPORTANT: Seattle Cyclocross Numbers will be used at Kringle Kross, so be sure to bring your numbers if you still have them. If not, numbers will be available.

P.S. Looking to make room for some new bikes, components or wheels? Have you recently been informed that the garage or basement has other uses than storing your excess bike stuff? Perhaps you need to make space in the living room for your mountain bikes or road bikes... Do you have old gear that is in good shape but you probably won't ever use it again... Does your old cross bike need a good home?

If so, bring your unwanted cycling paraphernalia to Kringle Kross...

Joe Bar Racing will be collecting used bike gear at Kringle Kross. All donations will be given to Bike Works in Columbia City. They are looking for frames, forks, wheels, brakes, etc. that are in good working order or can, with a little love, be in good working order. While any bike parts are welcomed, they are particularly looking for cyclocross gear to help support the growth of the sport through Bike Works.

There will be a tent set up at Kringle Kross in the team/vendors area to collect donations.

Thanksgiving Ride to Benefit NW Harvest
For at least the fifth consecutive year, members of the Seattle bike racing community will gather on Thanksgiving morning for a ride to benefit Northwest Harvest. Thanks to the generosity of local cyclists, this ride raises more than $500 each year for local food banks. The minimum suggested donation for the ride is $5 per rider.

Riders will gather at 9:15 in the Leschi neighborhood for a social-paced ride around the south end of Lake Washington, departing at 9:30.

BREAKING NEWS:

You heard it here first!

BicycleNorthwest's sources are reporting Chris Horner has signed with Rock and Republic Racing for 2008. We haven't confirmed any contract details but wanted to break the news here first for you, our loyal readers. Horner is a home grown favorite from Bend, Oregon.

2007 was the first year in the domestic pro peloton for the Rock and Republic cycling squad, but they are making a big push in 2008 signing serious gc contenders like Horner with support from well known cyclists Caesar Grajalez, Antonio Cruz, and Frankie Andreu as team director. The team owner, Michael Bell, has said his intent is to develop this team into the "most dominant team in U.S. cycling", and by the looks of it, he's off to a great start.

Travel to CX Nats Should go Smoothly Once you Arrive in KC

KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT READY TO ACCOMMODATE CYCLOCROSS NATIONALS COMPETITORS

Kansas City, Kan. (Oct. 24, 2007) Competitors for the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships can expect a smooth trip in and out of Kansas City International Airport (MCI).

Spokesman Joe McBride said the airport's unique design makes it bike-friendly. "Once you get off your flight, you can get right to ground transportation within 100 feet," McBride said. "That means you won't have to shuttle your bags or your bike a long distance from baggage claim."

MCI is about a 20-minute drive from the Wyandotte County Park course that will serve as host to the championships, Dec. 13-16, 2007. More than a dozen carriers serve MCI, including Air Canada, AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, ExpressJet, Frontier, Midwest, Northwest, Skybus, Southwest, US Airways and United.

More information is available at www.flykci.com, and www.visitkc.com.

Airline policies vary, but there is usually an additional charge for checking oversized items such as bicycles. Competitors should check their airline's policies and have the bicycle packaged according to specifications. At the departure airport, your bicycle is checked at the ticket counter and later picked up at baggage claim. In the case of your MCI arrival, the container will be brought up an elevator to the baggage carrousel.

USA Cycling members also receive discounted rates on travel at www.usacycling.org for the following:
- Hampton Inn and Hilton family properties (10 percent).
- Hertz Car Rentals (up to 15 percent).
- United Airlines (up to 10 percent off regular flights, and an additional 5 percent off tickets that are issued 30 days or more prior to the flight).

Once in Kansas City, there is much more to do any just race. More than two dozen hotels in the Wyandotte County area offer inexpensive lodging within walking distance of The Legends at Village West, an extensive shopping, dining and entertainment zone. The Legends features 36 restaurants and specialty food shops, along with the 14-screen Legends Theatre, a 12-lane "Pin-up Bowl" bowling alley and nightclub, a Dave and Buster's, and the Sanford and Sons Comedy Club.

Kansas City International Airport Ready To Accommodate Competitors

Athlete registration for the championships is open through Saturday, Dec. 8 (midnight CST). Official race apparel is on sale through the event's official website: www.kccrossnationals.com.
